I am sick and tried of the child's father lying to him to only make himself look good in front of his family at Christmas and Thanksgiving.

My son father doesn't call, lies, and steals from him when he sees him or ask for money if he knows he has some.

I'm sick of it and I hate to tell my son that your dad is a a---- but he is.

I want my son to respect him only because he is his dad. But other than that let him go.

If you EVER say a bad word about dad (no matter how good intended) it WILL scare your child. PERIOD. You have to let your child grow to learn who his/her dad is. They (kids) figure it out.

I see your son is 15. Maybe he is beyond being quite so fragile where Dad is concerned but I don't think you can be the one to say anything negative. What you may want to do, is allow him a place where he can come to his own conclusions, whatever they are. You don't want to pretend that everything is okey dokey, because that will not validate his own perceptions. But you can't say anything against the dad. J
sut ask questions such as, 'how did you feel when that happened' and 'did you two talk about that', if you've had therapy you know the drill. The letting go process will be long and slow and it will backtrack but it will take place.
