Single Parenting Support Group
Today being raised by a single parent is not uncommon. About three in ten children live in a single parent home. The most common type of single parent home is one with only a mother. However, single father homes are the fastest growing type of family situation; 60% growth in the last ten years alone.
I admire people who admit to themselves that they have a problem, and do something about it. What is he teaching your children by not attempting to address his flaws? What is he teaching your children by not admitting to his issues or taking steps to address them? Would he want them to grow up and do the things he is or isn't doing? Would he want someone to influence them in that way? Or, would he want his kids to know of a person who was responsible enough to properly take care of their illness? He needs to medicate or stay away. Be a man, a good father figure,,,, or stay away. No one should be around an unstable person, capable or inflicting physical or emotional abuse at any given moment.
bi-polar combined with schizophrenia can be a bad combination. i have worked in the mental health field and some schizophrenics who are not medicated can get extremely violent at times and bi-polar cycles can be really bad as well.
your kids safety is the most important thing. if hes abused you, whats going to stop him from hurting your kids ?
schizophrenics tend to take their meds for awhile and once they feel good they take themselves off because they feel they do not need them anymore.
you can always have the visits supervised
