Single Parenting Support Group
Today being raised by a single parent is not uncommon. About three in ten children live in a single parent home. The most common type of single parent home is one with only a mother. However, single father homes are the fastest growing type of family situation; 60% growth in the last ten years alone.
So... what I know about long distance relationships. Yes, they can work. The problem with the vast majority of LDR is that people tend to be fake, either up front of in the mix of things. They try and be someone they're not, or they try and make the person they're with someone that they're not. Getting lost in someone online is more than just a vacation away from reality. If you really want it to work, you have to work at it like a real, in front of your face relationship. You can't take things for granted and you can't blow off communication.
The most important thing in an LDR is communication. If you don't have a very, very good sense of communication, you're not going to get far. Also, intimacy - as much as I hate to admit it - can become a problem. You can't physically touch each other... but a mutual gratification of knowing you love, want and desire each other is semi important as well. Well... I would never have said that - EVER - in my life... but I'm coming to find out just how important the desire factor is...
Anyway. Who has to move? Well, would you both move for each other if you could? That's a big question. Would you be willing to relocate your life for that person? I would for mine. If I could. I'd drop everything here and be there with him. But I can't. For reasons stated above. But I think it's important that you're willing to be equal with one another - if it's a possibility.
Hope that helped! =)
Frump, thanks for the words!!
