However, single father homes are the fastest growing type of family situation; 60% growth in the last ten years alone.

i feel like im living with a plastic bag over my head,just breathing is a strugle!my daughter has been home for 2 days an i am sick of the sound of my own voice already.a cloud is settling over the top of me an i get a (just leave me alone!)voice screaming on the inside of me.i love my girl but motherhood strangles me an leaves me so down i cant even cope with housework.what is wrong with me?

If you are overwhelmed you need to cut down on things. Leave the housework alone for now. Try to lower your standards in terms of schedule and the amount of noise in your home. The next time something annoying happens, try to see the humor in it and say something funny about it. Blink hard and take a good look at your little miracle, and try to see the magic in the very existence of your children.

Humm...it doesn't say how old your daughter is. When my son was little...I got out and went somewhere....like the park...library. My son would come home exhausted and sleep well...I'd get more time to myself at night...and we'd both have a good day.

Hey...and if you're out all day....you guys won't be creating a mess to clean up...whatever mess is there can wait till your girl is in bed.

Lol...I just wanted to say how funny I think it is that this group is getting less activity this week than I've ever noticed.

I think maybe many of us single parents are busy busy busy with school out still. hehe

i hear u girl..i look back over the last few yrs and wonder how the hell i coped.. i also felt how u feel..that little voice in Ur head, i had it as well.. parenting is the hardest job out there and i challenge any12 who disagrees with me. some days u have 2 leave the mess.. t wont kill u if u leave the mess for a day or 2..i know i have just done the dished after not having done them for a few days..disgusting but tru... normally i would b horrified by the sight of dished sitting in the sink but i had a stressful few days and i wasn't coping and at a time like that dishes are a small thing in the scheme of things..
go 4 a walk 2 the museum, shops, park, library... or just around the neighbourhood and look at the birds, bugs, nuts ect that u find on the footpath ..u will both b very relaxed after it.. my children are now 12, 16, 12, 17 and i still get overwhelmed with it all at times.. there is no easy answer to ur problem .. i am here if u ever need 2 talk

I think you never really wanted your daughter. I love my kids and I would never feel that way about them, sometimes I wish I didn't have them but I never would stop being a mom to them.
