asking a guy out?

ok, I worked with this guy and on my last night we exchanged numbers. we haven't been able to talk yet, it's been I called and left a voicemail then he returned it several days later and vise visa. I am suppose to go out with my mom tomorrow night and I already have a sitter. my question is should I keep waiting or call him and ask him out? any thoughts?

hmm, I am lousy about this part, but call him with a specific message, like "hey, this is tink (your real name). Since I have been talking to your voicemail so much I thought it would like to go to dinner/movie/drinks/cup of coffee/whatever (but be specific) Friday at 6." Or, "Hi, Joe's machine, I am have a sitter (insert time) and will be at (location) around (time) if you want to join me." That way he can see you are actually interested in a date. If it is truly phone tag, then he can respond with "sounds great, c u then" or "Have other plans that time, how about this time?"

Does that help? I do that with playdates. i have wishywashy friends, so when they say "Let's have a playdate" I say, "I am actually free Monday, how about after lunch?" Then we bargain from there.
