Single Parenting Support Group
Today being raised by a single parent is not uncommon. About three in ten children live in a single parent home. The most common type of single parent home is one with only a mother. However, single father homes are the fastest growing type of family situation; 60% growth in the last ten years alone.
Yesterday, I went to a custody hearing. I'm so sick of going to court. Three weeks ago was supposed to be the final hearing but my ex asked for a continuance because he hadn't filed the updated paperwork for child support. He hasn't paid me anything at all since the order was issued. He doesn't even show up to the visits anymore.
And yesterday he didn't even show up for court. He called the courthouse and said he was "sick." He didn't come because he's going to go to jail since I filed a contempt of court motion. Now I have to go back on Monday.
I've tried to tell the judge that it's just another way for him to control me (he was very abusive while we were together). But I guess I have to wait for him to establish a pattern in court. I hope he's starting now and that the judge will see it.

my son will be 5 on jan 5th his dad took me to court at least every other month for about 3 years for his own dumb reason of trying to get back at me for keeping him, a judge will let him mess up a lot just from my experience, just keep fighting for you son and keep your head up

I left my son's dad when he was 3 (he was abusive to me) and we had a custody battle for almost two years. He paid some support however he had to pay what he didn't pay in the first place after the court order was in place and then a certain amount every month. Hope this helps.
