Single Dads Support Group
This community is dedicated to fathers who are going through the parenting process alone or without the support of a spouse. Single parenthood is often opted for by the parent (as in divorce, adoption, artificial insemination, surrogate motherhood, or extramarital pregnancy), or an unforeseeable occurrence (as in the death of one parent or abandonment by one parent).
The X2B somehow got it in her head that my son would be better off just seeing me 20% of the time. Oh yes, much better for a three year-old to spend most of his time with someone who finds no joy in life, can't cook a hot meal to save anyone's life, least of all his, and is so worn out that she takes an hour nap when I come home from work! Yeah, that'll be better.
Tomorrow, we go in for mediation. $1300 for an expert to tell her what she wouldn't hear from me free of charge. Maybe her motivation is money - she probably figured by now that she can't live on the proposed spousal/child support. It could be pure spite. She's raised that to an artform over the years. In any event, this has nothing to do with my son. If she's buying into that lie, then it's just the latest issue in her lifetime subscription.
Not every child gets access to a mother and father. So be it. All things being equal, though, a child should at least enjoy equal access to both parents if at all possible. For all of her flaws (trust me, I can write an encyclopedia), I would never presume to deny my son access to his mother. In fact, if she would argue to only have him 20% of the time, I would take the same view.
He's three. If he can't have the best from both of us, then he's entitled to the best from each of us. A mother and a father. All things being equal, reasonable people would tell you that this is the best foundation a child can have to navigate this derelict ship of a planet we inhabit.

when you think like that, it'll come across during the meeting and no one takes a child from a stable loving parent. If you've caused the boy harm or if you're not there, or if you're too busy with your own life and career over the child's then of course it should go that way. Wish you the best.
Her life is falling apart and my daughter is getting old enough where she asks questions "why is momma like this?" etc.
Im so confused and depressed. I recently took STD to settle this issue because I love my daughter more than life itself and my father abandonned me when I was 14.
Any advice.
