Shyness Support Group
Shyness is a feeling of insecurity that certain people experience while being among others, talking with others, asking favors of others, etc. The initial cause of shyness can vary. Scientists have located some genetic data that supports the hypothesis that shyness is at least partially genetic.

Has anyone else experienced same gender shyness. I am a straight male, but I grew up with none of the "traditional" interests that other men have, such as cars and sports. I can't seem to talk with other men around me, but I rarely have trouble talking to women. For me, men are like another species, although my wife says that I can be such a "guy" sometimes.

I am a woman who has always been uncomfortable around women. I too have felt like I do not belong to this species and at times have felt as if there was some terrible cosmic joke played on me when having to engage in conversation with other women. A few years ago I came to the conclusion that my fear of women had everything to do with my mother constantly abusing and frightening me and putting me down and nothing to do with something being wrong with me. I grew up thinking ALL women were harsh and abusive and hurtful. But I'm not that way, so the conclusion I grew up believing has turned out to be not true. I'm still working on it, but it's getting better.

Yeah, we could talk on the grounds of a common interest, and call ourselve's 'buddies' but at work or in a needy situation, we'd be alienated - right? I'm particularly wary of men who are smarter or richer!!! nearly 'all' men!

I know what you mean. I don't know anything about cars and not much about sports. Not only that, but I have no brothers, only sisters and somehow I'm still straight.

when i was younger i was more uncomfortable around women, which is strange since my mom was a single parent and we didn't have much contact with male relatives and she didn't really have any male friends. i guess maybe i didn't know what to expect from guys but i learned that i had to be careful what i said around my mom and aunts and sister. now everyone freaks me out. go figure.

Yes I am much more relaxed among women. Went to Poetry workshop was 27 women and me. Atmosphere was very relaxed no Alpha male competetiveness or trying to show off.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
