I don't have a lot in common with people my age. Most of my friends are 10 years older than me, and a lot are married. Most are men...I don't stay friends with girls long.

Sure do. I only have one friend my age and he just moved out of the country. I had no friends in high school, except for the teachers that I thought were my friends. I always tried to be with the older people. But the reality is, they are just being nice to let you sit in on their group and the teachers are just doing their job as mentors. There are some adults out there that can be really good friends. Try making friends with the ones that have no occupational obligations or feel guilty because no one else is including you. I speak from experience.

I'm actually the complete opposite. I find it easier to get along with people a few years younger than me. I seem to have more in common with them than people my own age. I have a few friends my age, and some of them have trouble making friends their own age too.

all my friends and people i associate with at work are much older or much younger than me. I dont know why that is.

I have few friends my age most are older or younger!! i work in a daycare soo i know alot of people older then me!! i had a hard time in school because it was people my own age in my class all the time!! but in collge it wasnt so that was good!

For whatever reason, since after high school, I have always made friends with people younger than me. I don't know what it is. Maybe I am a late bloomer or something. People usually make friends with me, not the other way around. Does anybody have any suggestions for me?

I think in a way people not in my age group feel safer if that makes any sense. Some of my peers in middle and high school made fun of me.

I don't have too much of a hard time talking to people my age. But making life long friends? Yeah, I do...I have friends from all age groups which is nice, because I could be my childish, laid back self w/those younger than me, I could also be the more mature, respondsible self I am w/those older than me and learn from them, etc but it's also just good learning about life along w/those around my age group.

i do that. i think i am intimidated by ppl my own age, so i go for ppl either older, or younger

I know what you're saying! The same thing happened to me. This usually means, I have learned, that you gravitate to the more mature people as they think the way you do. Everyone else around your age needs to catch up with you which makes you a leader. God bless you!
