I went back in this forum by searching. The jury is still out. No firm answer was ever really given as to the machine working or not. They can be used for trigeminal nerve problems from what I read. I Googled TENS, and anyone here can do their own search too. The sellers would say they are great. Wikipedia says the jury is still out. Who knows, a dog shocking collar may work too. Maybe there is an answer by someone else?????

In searching I came across botox as a way to stop the pain. Interesting. Iidocaine infusions is another interesting thing found in searching. It has mixed results.

I have found that if it is an internal pain, it usually must be taken care of internally with drugs. If it is a skin pain, usually that pain can be REDUCED by using topical treatments. Lidocaine gels and creams help. Any of the "caine's" may help if it is STRONG enough. One example: Oragel. Anything to numb the area of the skin where the skin pain is at. They work for a few hours then must be reapplied. Botox uses the same principal, numbing, and might last a while.

having atn on left side then getting shingles on right side i did try the TENS unit and it did not work for me. it actually made it WORSE so i don't know if it riled up the nerve because it was so sensitive or what but horrible experience for me.
