Shingles Support Group
Herpes zoster, colloquially known as shingles, is the reactivation of varicella zoster virus, leading to a crop of painful blisters over the area of a dermatome. It occurs very rarely in children and adults, but its incidence is high in the elderly (over 60), as well as in any age group of immunocompromised patients.

I'm nearing the end of my fourth week, the meds are helping quite a bit with the pain.
I was wondering, has anyone else found they are cold alot of the time and have trouble getting warm? Yes, it's worse at night, but it's that way even during the day.
Also, the numbness. I'm finding that one day it's almost completely gone and then the next day my skin is completely numb again. Kind of curious as to why it does that.
I hope everyone else is feeling a bit better.

Hello- I am new to the group

My therapist really knocked some sense into me last Friday about my spending. She said that there are needs and there are wants. She said that there is always going to be cheap stuff to buy, but do I need it? The answer is mostly "no". So today, I am taking back some things that I bought online at Kohl's, namely a 9 x 12 rug and a quilt for my bed. I also bought sheets that I don't need...
I'm not having the numbness that you (and others) are experiencing. I feel fortunate that my case was diagnosed EARLY.
Hope you are having a good day.
Our home is the same temperature so I am unaware about this part of the symptoms but everybody is different. Mom uses an ice bag at least half the day and always at night.
The healing takes time and patience. I wish I had more to give her than just the nightly massages. But she says that helps.
Take care
Mary
nerves act very weird and healing very slow. they can tingle like coldness and be numb and hurt and burn etc. so hopefully this is part of your healing process.
blessings for a speedy recovery

If you feel cold, add something to help you feel warmth. I use a blanket to help me. I have had a cool cloth on my head, and a blanket over my legs, and been able to rest that way.
Best wishes.
