Sorry it's called herpedic whitlow. I confuse easily

Never heard of it. I got out my big anatomy book. The nerves that innervate the skin on the hands originate from cervical vertebrae C6, C7 and C8. C6 innervates the thumb and half of the first finger. C7 innervates the other half of the first finger, the middle finger and half of the third finger. C8 innervates the other half of the third finger and the pinky finger. Of course the nerves that are in the hands are actually branches of the main nerves that originate at the vertabrae in the neck.
The shingles virus hides in nerve root ganglions, so I suppose it is possible that your problem originated from the neck.

Is there a certain area of your hands that is affected?

It started on the tips of my fingers ,I think my ring fingers.2 days after a manicure. Now it has spread to my palms. One poped up on my wrist today. Everyday I get anywhere from 2-10 new ones. Sometimes they group together and at times I'll get just one lonely one in a spot. I may have misspelled it. It could be HerpeTic Whitlow. All I know it's a real pain in the hands.
What I've read it's caused by Herpes simplex but my Doc said my test results showed herpes zoster.

the virus that is chicken pox is stored in the pod in the base of your skull and my neuro explained to me that it hangs out there forever but some of us it reactivates if under stress or whatever reason if they really know why at all.
so everyone has the potential to get an out break of shingles if they had chicken pox.
now the thing i wish i knew about when i had my bout of these is the tagament treatment.. google tagament and shingles than always run it by your dr before trying things of course. but if i ever get another bout, Lord willing i never do; i would add this to my treatment.
vitamin b helps support your central nervous system too i try to stay on it daily..

Thanks for your help. Today I woke up and am having a big break out on the tips of my fingers. It does hurt. The article was wrong about it lasting 2 weeks. I've been fighting it for 2 months so far and it shows no sign of backing off.Also I was told mine was caused by herpes zoster not simplex. I can't find any info on that difference either.
I'll keep looking
