MUST check in with your Doctor honey. Diagnosis must be sought so that treatment can be correctly given. There are many good tips here to help deal with the pain etc, but medication must come from your doc.

Wow, You have been through enough already. You may be better at figuring out what you have than some of those inexperienced doctors.

I was once told to go to a doctor that treats the elderly, not that we are in that class - Ha Ha, but because they see so many more cases of shingles. The doctors that work in those long term care places, is what was recommended.

What are your symptoms anyway? Maybe it is your PHN ( after shingles pain) that is flaring up due to the heat of this summer? It sure does do it to me when I get out in the sun. The rays must penetrate the skin and aggravate the damaged nerves. I'm guessing what is happening to you. We need more details.

Mike does your eye and near your eye swells - mine has not stop swelling - its a pain - and now I see that near my nose where the eyebrow meets your nose - well it is changing my face.

I had a appt with the pain management doctor yesterday and of course they cancel it - so I have to wait another 2 weeks before I can ask him

Yes, I guess for those who get the shingles bad in and around the eyes, it will change the shape of things. In my case, the eyelid hangs down lower. I can't make tears as well either. I do not have a swelling problem like you do.

Your symptoms could be anything, but hopefully not shingles or some other serious problem. Good luck with the doctors.

Mike does you cheek swells - One day I was working on a saturday and my whole side of my face swell. i've been taking pictures of my eye and what it does it is unbelieveable right above the eyelid that part is always swollen, above the eyebrow is always swollen.

forgot to tell you I have that dam itch again it still drives me crazy.

Even though we both had shingles in basically the same area, it has affected you differently than me. I have no swelling. My biggest change is the droopy eyelid, and the constant problem with touching my temple to the pillow at night. I can only sleep on one side.

From what you have written before, you had it worse than I did. I can sure empathize with your problems, but I can't help you solve the swelling problem. I hope that you can find someone who can. Anyone here have a suggestion for Joyous Poyous?

Joyous, you need to be evaluated by a doctor who has worked with shingles to figure out what's happening.

The swelling I got was horrible, and the only thing I could do was put a cool cloth on it and the eyebrow I used a ice cube pack on it to bring the swelling down.

I hope Barba comes on soon, may have natural remedies that will provide you with relief.

Oh I am sorry. Doctor first to find out exactly what Virus you have. He will give you anti virals. The burning and itching willl follow. Keep the skin VERY clean with tepid water followeed by a diluted vinigar rinse - pat dry. I founfdTea tree oil good, and L-lycine tablets which can be taken along with the anti virals. Do as I say, not as I do, keep your hands away from the lesions. If itching starts, do the tepid wash routine again. Get plently of rest, and see that you get very good nutrition and do try not to stress. Omega 3 find keeps skin soft while the scaring heals, and I personally prefer it to ointments. Having said that, an ointment with a local anaesthetic can really help too. While the bisters are still seeping, keep them covered, and chage the dressings until a good scab forms and change the dressings whenever they become uncomfortable, WASH HANDS Whenever you deal with treating your rash. Don't forge,the value of good pain killers with anti iinflamatories. Chin up, this too will pass, but Doctor first stop.

I can not put cold compress on the swelling - that brings bad pain; but I notice that when pain comes my temple right near my eye (right) get all blue and the one view there goes all that way up to my scalp - and the itch is in my scalp just like last time Jan. 2010.

This is one for the Doctor honey - don't muck about. Nothing beats accurate diagnosis. There are a few things one can use to soothe pain etc, but NEVER try to avoid a visit to Doctor - If you are not happy with a particular Doc, a second opinion is good.

Mike I just read what that diseace and I don't think its taht - I will wait to see the pain doctor on wednesday and if he doesn't answer my question I will be at the doctor office. ASAP

I don't have it on my face, but the second time I got it, it was only one blister, too. So I hope you have seen the doc because you need to get on the anti-virals quickly.

The only thing that works for me is ice. But hard to put on the place you describe.
