Hello everyone!

I have to come up with some table decor or an important event for a group I belong to this coming November 2013. I was wondering if anyone could give me some cheap crafty ideas for small center pieces,etc.

The colors that I have to work with are: Sapphire/Royal Blue; Emerald Green, Amethyst Purple. The theme is GEMS this year. Diamonds are also included in the gems. I have some small plastic gems that I found in a craft store I used with some small pails for tonight's event. I am needing something new, cute or clever that I could maybe reuse the plastic gems for come November. Peacock feathers is another item that could be tied into things as well as a gold cord.

If anyone could help me out, I would be very grateful. If we did something individually, we would need maybe 50 of them I am guessing. I could do something a little bigger and only need 1 or 2 per table..........or 2 dozen roughly.

I hope there is someone that can maybe give me 2 or 3 ideas on something to create for this important event.
I am open to recycling baby food jars, etc if they can be used cleverly!

I like the idea of the peacock feathers. Could you glue some of the gems onto the feathers to really make them glitter? Would the peacock feathers be to tall if they are put in the baby jars, and the baby jars are filled with gems, with gold cord glued around the top rim? I'm not very crafty, so I hope this helps.

I LIKE YOUR IDEA 22LYNN, BUT I DON'T KNOW THAT THE JARS WOULD STAND UP WITH THE FEATHERS IN THEM, UNLESS THEY ARE SMALL PEACOCK FEATHERS.

I KNOW THAT YOU'LL COME UP WITH SOMETHING FANTASTIC AND I HOPE THAT YOU WILL TAKE PICTURES SO WE CAN SEE THE FINAL OUTCOME.

Thanks for the ideas. Things went well the other night but still a long ways to go before the BIG SHOW in November. I think the peacock feathers would have to be the small ones for sure if I used them with the baby food jars.

I live in a more rural area of the state so resources are kind of limited as to supplies. So trying to find bargains on things any where and every where!

If anyone has any other ideas....speak up!

MY GRANDMOTHER USED TO MAKE REALLY PRETTY BOUQUETS USING SPRAY STARCH, SPRAY PAINT, AND DANDELION POOFS, YOU KNOW, THE SEED THING THAT COMES AFTER THE FLOWER HAS GONE. SPRAYING THEM WITH STARCH KEEPS THEM FROM FALLING APART THEN SHE SPRAY PAINTED THEM, USUALLY SILVER OR GOLD BUT ANY COLOR WILL WORK. SOMETHING LIKE THAT IN THE BABY FOOD JARS WOULD BE NICE TOO, AND THEY ARE LIGHTWEIGHT SO THE JARS WOULDN'T TIP OVER SO EASILY.

What is the event in aid of? Its easier to search a specific event for idea's, for example baby shower table decorations or fall table decorations ....

Hi, I found this on Etsy....I went to a fall wedding a few years ago and their centerpieces were great. They used gemstones in clear hurricane glass vases (whatever size you prefer). Inside the vase they placed a strand of battery Christmas lights around and put various colored gemstones to fill the vase. Inside they placed a few stems of peacock feathers and plumes of some sort...they also placed matching votive candles around the centerpiece. I think you could do something like the picture attached and inside the vase put a large candle with the gemstones and a few peacock feathers on the table.

The event is the for the upcoming visit of our Supreme Queen for Daughters of the Nile when she makes her Official Visit to our Temple in November. Daughters of the Nile helps support the Shrine Hospitals for Children in the US & Canada. She is the one that chose the colors,etc for her theme this year. Each Temple then decorates in her honor for her OV when she comes to their Temple. So I am trying to find something clever, cute, and inexpensive if possible. Last year, we had like 50 people attend the dinner and most of them took home their table decoration with them. The theme changes every year and so do the colors as a rule.

I looked up the site and i noticed the supreme queen wearing a crown, i had this wacky idea that would be cheap and a bit of fun, what about making paper crowns and decorating them with the stones you have and the peacock feathers. They could sit on the plate as decoration. There are sites with printable crowns to make it easier and a pack of sturdy paper isn't going to break the bank.

I rather liked the "crown of friends" thought it might be a nice touch as you are all friends raising money together.
