I just wrote in my journal and mentioned something that I have never admitted to before but it is something I have done for years and i don't get it.
I will pick at my lips. I will rub them until callouses form then pull the callouses off until my lips are a raw somewhat bloody mess. I can't seem to keep my hands away from my mouth.
Other times I will twist my hair or rub one spot on my hair line until it bleeds.
Sometimes I am not even aware that I am doing it.
Any advice?

I think you need therapy. Seriously. I used to do destructive things to myself before I really got help for dealing with my abuse with a professional.

Actually I am in therapy but I haven't mentioned it to him. I guess i never thought of it as destructive....tho it is.

Remember having sensations of someone holding my two wrist. I would sit back and count from 20 backwards to 1. Most of the time the sensations would disappear. You really should tell your therapist this, it sounds very serious.

I do the same exact thing. I've done it since I can remember. I don't really understand it, other than it being anxiety related. Sometimes I can curb it with lip balm, or drinking tons of water, both hydrate and make it harder to pick. I hope that helps. Definitely talk to your therapist about it. I could also benefit from some advice!

About half the time I am not even aware that I am doing it. Other times there is an intense need to do it. I have done the same thing to the top of my ear. My hair is longish so the only one who sees it is my hairdresser.

This may sound silly, but when your not at the computer wear mitts. This way you'll feel when you unconsciously start picking, then you'll be able to consciously "train" yourself in stopping this, it takes time. This works great too for those who chew there nails down to nothing. Hope this helps, Blaine

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
