I've found that research is good (maybe not for all) but by researching SA you are finding out many things that may apply to you, kind of like an "ah ha" moment. Why you do some of the things you do, or why some things trigger emotional issues etc. Just my opinion.

I don't have a plan, and I don't have any support other than what I find here on this website. I don't expect to recover, just trying to minimize the pain in my life and survive.

As far as finding supportive people, I live alone and only see other people when I go out for groceries about once a month or talk briefly with a neighbor. I figure that's normal for a working class person who's too old to work anymore. There are a lot of us who live alone after our families abandon us...seems to be the customary way of dealing with seniors these days...unless of course they have a lot of money. Then there are loads of services available for them.

I am new to this. I was molested at age thirteen and have just come to realize the affects or they have just gotten bad enough for me to ask for help and begin recover a few weeks ago at age thirty. I am a "black and white" kind of person. I wan't to know things in plain text. I am finding that research is helping me. As I educate myself more on PTSD, childhood sexual trauma and the affects and on how the brain functions, I am realizing I have been affected since it happened. It is also a comfort for me personally to know things like "why I sabotaged my relationships" or "why I self mutilated". If you are a "how it works" kind of person, I would think it may help you to research.

I just fake it til I make it. No it does not work but I do not feel inclined at this point to do anything about it. I'm too busy to deal with it. It will probably come back to bite me in the worst way someday but whatever.

Don't do what I do, though. Honestly therapy did help when I was in it. I used to have the most ridiculous triggers (jalapenos, banana peppers even). That eye movement therapy deal helped. Sometimes i just want to go back to the psych ward because it was so structured

I AM CONFUSED ON HOW TO HELP MY NIECE RECOVER. I AM ACTUALLY SCARED SHE'S GOING TO HURT HERSELF TO GET RID OF THE FEELINGS SHE'S HAVING. SHE HAVEN'T OPENLY TALKED ABOUT THE ABUSE BUT HER ABUSER WENT TO COURT AND GOT OFF. ITS SAD BECAUSE ER ABUSER WAS HER OWN FATHER. PLEASE HELP ME HELP HER BY TELLING ME HOW TO HELP.PLEASE IM BEGGING YOU.
