I am finding it very difficult to allow myself to believe I was raped by my father as a little child. Therapy has been going well and I've made many strides but as soon as I make them, I like to "forget" them so I can keep living my life as a "regular" person. Except, for the fact that my ultimate goal in therapy is to be intimate with my husband and feel safe. I don't even like kissing. Today, my therapist nailed it by helping me realize it is penetration that I can't tolerate bc it evokes memories or rape and/or body memories. So, I avoid it altogether. It's weird because I enjoy tongue kissing but only for a few seconds and I make myself stop. I enjoy orgasm but I won't let myself feel comfortable enough with my husband to even attempt to achieve one. I rarely have sex and when I do, it's out of "obligation" despite having enjoyed it before the memories all surfaced. I have 2 children; luckily I get pregnant easy so it didn't take much practice. I have to be willing to deal with the rape I went through as a child by my father and I am stuck in a state of disbelief. Any advice how to acknowledge it better? I don't even feel angry (though I was full of rage as a child) when I talk about it because I alternate disbelief with physical disgust.

Upon his departure, he remarked, "I am in many people’s pockets; no one will believe you." Have you ever grappled with the silence that follows sexual assault, where the perceived impossibility of being believed necessitates self-censorship?

No one expects a parent to rape them let alone as a little girl.
I had to endure a trial to hear that my husband RAPED his daughter when she was 5 years old.
She went to a Catholic home and stayed there till she was an adult.
HE also RAPED my son.
MY SON DIDN'T TELL ME.
I AM A SURVIVER OF RAPE. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND DID NOT LEAVE BECAUSE HE THREATENED TO KILL MY FAMILY.
MY 2 SONS WILL HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ME, MANY PEOPLE BELIEVE THE WIFE MUST NO.
IF I HAD I WOULD HAVE KILLED HIM.
IT TOOK 31 YEARS FOR HIM TO BE CHARGED. I HOPE HE IS STILL IN JAIL.
THIS IS JUST A SMALL BIT OF THE PAIN I LIVE WITH.
MY BIGGEST ANGER IS WHY DIDN'T HE GET CHARGED IMMEDIATELY ?
I READ THE NUMS STATEMENTS, WHY DID THEY NOT FIGHT FOR THIS CHILD ?
WHY DID HER MOTHER AND ALL THOSE WHO KNEW NOT DO ANY THINK? WHY DID NO ONE EVER TELL ME ?
I DIDN'T MARRY HIM IN LOVE BUT FEAR.
YOU ARE A PRECIOUS LADY WHO HAS SUFFERED SO MUCH. BE BRAVE, CAN YOU CHARGE HIM NOW ? NAME HIM.
THESE MEN HAVE TO BE STOPPED.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE MORE PERSONAL HELP FRIEND ME. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
MAY TODAY RELEASE YOU FROM FEAR AND FILL YOU WITH LOVE XOXO
