Hi everyone - I have read several posts from parents and family members of sexual abuse survivors who would like information on how best to support the survivor and how best to get support - Does anyone else think there would be a need for such, and thus would be a good idea for a seperate group? If so, then I will work on it -
Give me your input as the creation of this group would be based on the need for it.

Hi,

There is one that parents can use. I had to go back through some posts because I remembered someone posting the link. I wasn't able to find it on my own so I was thrilled when they posted it. It's at: http://www.dailystrength.org/groups/parents-whose-children-have-been-sexually-abused

I searched DS for a good half hour the other day looking for this as another poster could have used it. I hope that same poster looks at this post and sees the link.

Thank you for adding this post to our forum. I think it will help many parents find their way to the other forum.

Thank you so much for the link - no wonder I could not find it - I looked under every search name I could think of, but did not look for that particular name.
Anyway, I will post it on the Incest Site under a similar thread that I started, and perhaps the ones that I have read and responded to there will pick up on it.

Just an FYI: I found the DS parent group a few years ago by typing "support for parents of sexually abused children" in my browser and it was one of several that came up. To find it in DS, if you click on "support groups" in the blue bar at the top of the page, then go to the right side of the page to "member created groups," and type in "parents of sexually abused children" and submit, it comes up. The other two non DS groups I was in are no longer active, so I'm very glad this one is here!

A beautiful post and beautiful responses. When I joined a male survivors group my wife suggested another group for spouses and others to help them better understand. The next year they started one and many of those men healed faster having a supportive and understanding spouse/family member/loved one by their side. Unfortunately my spouse lost patience and is back to, "why don't you just move on".
