Sexual Abuse Support Group
Sexual abuse is a relative cultural term used to describe sexual relations and behavior between two or more parties which are considered criminally and/or morally offensive. Different types of sexual abuse involve: Non-consensual, forced physical sexual behavior such as rape, incest or sexual assault, or psychological forms of abuse, such as verbal sexual behavior or...
It's a shame to hear of your own experience and thankfully there's a wonderful support network for you hear whereby you can communicate with others and hopefully gain strength in your own life. I suffered sexual abuse myself and I have been dealing with this all my life! I've had the counselling and that helped for a while but when it ended I was left to my own devices.
As sad as these experiences are I genuinely believe that they make you stronger as a person. Have you ever discussed your past with a professional like a counsellor or psychotherapist? Anyway, good luck. Andrew
It's a matter of perspective. We've experienced and see things they other people haven't, so things they find disturbing, we just see as how our life was.
I'm not sure society is simply standing by and letting it happen so much as it's impossible to know who is going to end of doing heinous things, so by the time the justice system finds out, someone has already gotten hurt.
On the other end, if we DID know someone was capable of doing these things, by brain scans or whatever, I'm not 100% sure I feel comfortable locking them up, or whatever we as a society would agree on, before they did anything wrong.
We, as abuse survivors, have a greater likelihood of being abusers ourselves, but I don't think we should all be locked up, just in case. we do something in future.
It's a tough situation and I'm not sure what the answer is.
((((HUGS)))) to you.
To answer your questions... Some people just shouldn't be parents cause they are clueless or they themselves have been abused and they haven't the guts to stop the cycle. And our society protects the offenders and their rights and we wonder why the population of people are getting heavier and heavier... well duh... the child abuse rate is getting higher and higher...
I did not have this reaction to Precious. The book that the movie is based on is far more triggering. Like I've said before, the audience laughing during Precious bothered me more than anything.
So how can parents be that awful...because our society doesn't require anything for you to be a parent. Even if a parent is accused of being abusive, the legal system has loopholes so that the accused parent still has access to the child.

Big hugs to you all!!! Don't torture yourself with trying to solve the world's problems, do what you can for yourself and let that a positive ripple affect.
