My mother said that my father wanted to save money and she had to teach me to shower without using a lot of water. I was about 8 years old. I remember her washing every part of me and when she washed me between my legs she lingered there for a long time. I wanted to disappear - when I think of it today I want to disappear again. She took me and my sister to a doctor for pelvic exams when I was 5 and my sister was 7 - she said to make sure nothing was wrong. She would always watch him do the pelvic exams on us.
She used to call me into the bathroom when she was getting out of the shower and was powdering herself between her legs so that I had to watch her.
All I want her to do is admit this - and say she is sorry. I wrote her a letter and told her that I remembered these things - my sister remembers these things too. Her response was to write to me and give me a lecture on how I was making up stories
This is the first time I have ever told anyone about this - except discussing this with my sister.. I just want my mother to say she did it - the shower was so terrible - I'll never forget it - the whole feeling of that shower is how i feel about my body - I hate it and I want to hide.

I am so sorry that this happened to u. I was sexually abused by my mother too. It is a hard thing to accept & you were very brave to confront her about it. It is likely her shame that is keeping her from admitting the truth. How she is reacting to your confrontation of the facts of what she did to you & how she hurt you does not make the confrontation a failure. In the long run, what matters most is your courage in doing it. I don't think I will ever get the courage to confront my mother, I choose instead not to have any communication with her...because I know her reaction will be exactly what your mother's has been, & I am not willing to hear her deny it or tell me I'm the crazy one, it would hurt too much. So I know you must be hurting now. I wish I could say that the pain of that will go away or that she will come around...but I can't...I don't know. But what I do know is that I am really proud of you for your strength & your courage. You can try to take pride in that, despite her negative reaction. I wish you peace brave soul. hugs & kisses...you will be in my thoughts & prayers. xoxox!

my mother use to do similar things and as i got older and became overweight she would undress me infront of a full lenght mirror and grab at things she said were fat, like my breasts, thighs, butt, and stomach. she would make me have conversations with me while she was taking a bath. to this day she will not admit she did anything.

Linda I am so sorry to hear of what your mother did. Mine was so abusiev and in so many ways too. She would ask me to wash her back and then turn around and grab my hand and put it on her privates. I have an obsessive hand washing thing now. Hang in there hon and we will all get through this together. Hugs to you.

It's healing to talk and write about it. It is Healing to tell your mother what an abusive sick person she is. It is OK to be so angry and just vent it out (in a healthy way) You are a survivor and now the healing has begun.
