I've had encounters with sexual assault before but this time was different. I'm usually able to put these kinda things in the back of my mind and move on. I was with my best friend and her dad gave us some pills he said we get half a lidotab and a muscle relaxer each. Then we went into her basement and got high. We both passed out and when I woke up there was something moving my hand and something grabbing my breast. I didn't realize what was going on till a little while longer. I eventually made it known that I was awake and he went away. It was dark in there so I didn't see a face but I know what I felt. Since then I have a random urge to wash my hands and scrub the hand that was touching him. It's hard to be intimate with my "friend" I get flashbacks of what happened and I shut down. My "friend" doesn't know but my best friend does i told her what happened but nothing happened. We caught her dad masturbating while we were high in the basement a couple times before the incident. So her and I both know it was him. I feel like I can't do anything like I'm nothing more than an object. I want nothing more than to move past this too. It sounds dumb when I talk about it but I just don't know what to do. If you've read all this, thanks for your time and have a nice day.

I'm sorry you experienced this. What you are feeling post trauma is normal, your bodily autonomy was violated. And please do not think your thoughts, words, and feelings about this are dumb. It's so easy to get trapped in that rabbit hole of thoughts but are they helping? 100% not. You are not dumb, the situation forced upon you is not dumb. I encourage you to talk about it. If you have the financial means to do so, I would suggest finding a therapist to talk to. The only light in my sexual assault experience is having a therapist to talk to. If you are in school, whether high school or higher ed, try talking with a guidance counselor or a mental health counselor. If you don't want to speak to a person face to face, you can try RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network). RAINN.org has a 24 hour hotline and an online chat option staffed with trained professionals. They have lots of resources and may be able to help you.

I can also encourage you to go to the police and report the incident. It's never too late. Even if you aren't ready now, that's okay.

You can also try writing out your feelings, misconceptions, and thoughts out on to a piece of paper, then tear it to shreds or even burn it. This. Is. Not. Your. Fault. You did not do anything in any way shape or form to deserve this.
