one of my friends from camp has been sending me really scary text messages... I've known her for 4 years now, and im scared for her... i have found out this year that she has been beaten and raped by her faterh since she was 5... shes now 15... well, here are her texts...
Me: Whats up?
Her: Nm. Dad is angry... Kinda scared. Im ok tho.
Me: Heyy. I love u!
Me: Did everythign turn out okay last night?
Her: Yea. Police tlkd 2 him. Went 2 the hospital. But im k. I miss u so much! Love you to the moon and back.
Me: I miss u 2! I love u 2! Please tel me they took you outta there?!?!
Her: Took him out of there. He spent the night in jail. Im going 2 go 2 a friends house cuz i dont no when theyll release him.
Me: How can they still keep you there>
Her: The police cheif is friends w/ my dad. And they have 100 reports from me just like this. Think about those tv shows where the abused wife isnt removed from the home til its 2 late. Thats me. He has 2 do something really bad 4 sum1 2 want 2 help. Iv been in 2 foster homes already.

Is there a support center where your friend lives that you can contact for advise and help? Are there safe teachers or counselors that can guide you?
If not, call RAINN at 1 800 273-8255; they are a national hotline that will transfer your call to a crisis center in your area (if you don't live in the same area as your friend you'll have to ask them to get you information where your friend lives.)
Also try the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1 800 656-4673.
You need to get as much information from these people as possible, and then let your friend know.
I hear your fear, so just put one foot in front of the other as you get the information you need.
