I saw a rape scene on tv the day after I was first abused and it was sickening to watch. There was another movie with a graphic rape scene and I stormed out of the room and got a bit hysterical and cried. I think I even got upset watching a movie where a teemage guy and girl were having consentual sex for the first time with each other. This was because my first time was with my dad and I had missed out on that.
So u are not alone. I try to avoid violent movies especially if they have sexual abuse. If such a scene comes up I fast forward or caver my eyes.
You could always make an excuse to leave like going to the toilet or getting some munchies or just avoid watching such movies. Usually u can tell if a movie may have that in it.
If someone wants to watch a movie with me around, I now ask what they are watching and if it is going to bother me I will dismiss myself from watching and just say this is not my kind of intertaiment. You do not have to subject yourself to things you do not like or agree with and stating my opinion I believe has educated them. My husband used to watch movies with all that crap in them and now realises that as long as we watch movies like that they will continue to make them and mess up the minds of the young.
Some people who have never been subjected to abuse of a sexual or physical nature just dont' link it to reality as we do. But I also don't think we have to help promote these kinds of movies.
With love!
