Okay, I know that I, mother duck, don't usually come for advice, I'd rather give my two cents but I'm in need so please be honest and give me some help here. Today I've found that my daughter has to do an in depth interview that should have been done 3 months ago when this all came out. Perhaps even a physical exam. The place and people she'll go to are very good, but my daughter will have to say everything again that has happened to her and she will have to go in to more detail. Serious detail. I'm struggling with knowing I have to put that bastard in jail and stop him, but do I encourage her to do this at the risk of her sanity? She hasn't told me everything and hasn't told her therapist yet either although therpaist says she's getting very close. I don't want to traumatize her. I know what the right thing to do is, but I'm afraid of what it will cause in her. Sometimes I don't think so clearly so I wanted help. Please, some of you I really trust. I need feedback to make a decision.
It's hard to go into that kind of detail, but also it's a good thing, or it was for me afterwards.
I would recommend waiting until your daughter tells her therapist everything and then have her speak to whomever. maybe the therapist can be present for that? that might help her.
you are not traumatizing her, what you're doing is helping her recover from the trauma she has already suffered. while this is all hard now, you will not regret it. you may if you don't.
