I've read a lot about adult pedophiles grooming children for abuse...but I never thought about an adult person grooming another adult prior to sexually abusing them...
Now that I think about it, it seems fairly obvious that it would happen.

That last part I have experienced with a number of creepy guys who. will. not. go. away.

It struck me that this professional used grooming tactics on A. prior to assaulting and exploiting A. I had never thought of adults being groomed for sexual assault or abuse before. But his grooming of A was quite obvious.
So I began to think about adult grooming...
70% of sexual assault victims know their perpetrator, so it would seem that adult-on-adult grooming is more common than the whole "stranger-rape" scenario.
Nor are all rapists/sexual abusers men...
So I am thinking that adult-on-adult grooming is actually the dominant pattern prior to a sexual assault occurring.
Grooming is gaining the trust of someone in order to render them vulnerable to sexual predation/exploitation. I think that would work as a definition.
That definition would apply whether talking about a child or an adult.
I was thinking about someone getting a target to relax enough to accept a drugged drink, for instance...
Or getting the potential victim to feel safe going somewhere with the would-be assailant.
Yet another grooming method would be for the assailant to create enough fear in the target that the target will allow sex, rather than risk violence if they refuse sex.
A fourth would be blackmail. Stuff like that.
On further enquiery it turned out that this cretin was a convicted sex offender on the Sex Offenders Register until 2021. I reported the whole situation to the police 2 days ago. They knew of this predator and investigations are underway. This brings me to my response to the thread above..it made me realise that both my daughter AND my wife were being groomed by this creature. I immediately contacted my wife who after an extreme release of emotion with my discovery of her situation managed to piece together what had been happening to them by him.
I instantly begged her to forgive me for jumping to the wrong conclusion about what i was so sure about previously. This creature had to be stopped. May justice be seen to be done and soon.
