if either of you want some additional pointers we can discuss it in messages, or ask it here and I will answer if I spot the questions
Y'all might want to look in to it?
The only side effect of Prazocin that I am aware of is that it makes me lightheaded, but I got used to that quickly; its well worth the side effects since lack of sleep and horrible nightmares have worse side effects.
I do not know about the medication that the other posts are talking about, but I do know a little about dreams.
Our minds tend to "work out" problems unconsciously in our dreams, so at times of stress or during times of recovering our past memories, nightmares are a frequent occurrence with many survivors or trauma. Individuals with PTSD often have difficulty sleeping as they re-live the trauma in various scenarios through their dreams....ie. nightmares.
As you have reported really fearing the loss of your therapy and the support you are getting through it, then this may be triggering the fear that is manifesting in your dreams. We do know that if a person is prone to nightmares or negative themed dreams, then at times of stress these occur more frequently or with more fear involved.
If the medication is something you are willing to look into and it helps, then perhaps this is a good solution for you. But, also consider that your brain may be telling you that it is time to seek out and find more support to replace that which you are losing with your therapy ending.
Have you talked to your therapist about this? I would suspect they would tell you a similar thing - that you need to replace the support you are soon losing.
All my best and do let us know how you are doing and what you find that helps.

I spoke to my therapist about my nightmares, including the detail behind them, my dreams are insanely vivid and detailed. I know I have a lot to work through and I know that I do. I know that by denying myself the chance to confront him and seek punishment for him I might well be causing a lot of this myself...but I really don't ever want to see him again. I know I should confront my mother again and force her to make a choice...but I know if I do I'll lose her forever. I know I should be able to confide in my husband and turn to him for support...but I don't want to scare him off or burden him with my baggage (plus he has problems with me talking about things). I don't feel like I CAN talk to or trust anyone with everything. And I know I should. But I fell like I have no one.
Sorry, not in the best state of mind atm. On the plus side...last night's dream wasn't as horrible.
It may be hard for you to be persistent since abuse survivors often don't feel very deserving or entitled. If you need support around asking for what you need and feeling that you deserve it, please ask. It is important not only for you, but for your children. I speak from experience - my own unprocessed traumas had a big impact on my mothering, which I did not realize until 15 years later. Sometimes it's easier to push when it's for our kids ...
How did I get here? I went through Cognitive Behavior Therapy. It was there that I spent a great deal of time writing things out. Probably one of the most difficult things that I have ever had to do. If you choose to do this make certain that you don't do in the evenings. First thing in the morning, if you have the time, write out all that you can remember of your dreams. Then throw the paper away. Remind yourself that they are just dreams. It isn't an overnight cure but it has worked for me.
I think I'll make an appointment with my GP once my exam is done, or speak to my midwife about counselling next week. I can but ask. And hopefully once I've worked through this quagmire of s**t that has been dumped upon me by a few people, I will be able to save the little girl in me still crying out to be rescued.
