Sexual Abuse Support Group
Sexual abuse is a relative cultural term used to describe sexual relations and behavior between two or more parties which are considered criminally and/or morally offensive. Different types of sexual abuse involve: Non-consensual, forced physical sexual behavior such as rape, incest or sexual assault, or psychological forms of abuse, such as verbal sexual behavior or...

I posted to this forum a while ago because I can't get past the sexual abuse that took place during my childhood/preteen years. Being completely vulnerable, I put my story out there hoping for advice as to how to get past my own guilt and was personally messaged by someone offering to help as they had somewhat been through the same thing and said could help me move past my torments. I was given their personal email address to chat and honestly didn't think twice about about it as I couldn't afford any psychiatrist help and find myself teetering off the deep end most days. The chat started innocently but then I was recently asked for graphic details of what was done to me. I honestly don't know how to respond as I have never really been asked for specific details of what was done before. Is this a part of getting past things? I guess I'm trying to figure out if I'm just being super paranoid?

Upon his departure, he remarked, "I am in many people’s pockets; no one will believe you." Have you ever grappled with the silence that follows sexual assault, where the perceived impossibility of being believed necessitates self-censorship?

You don't need a psychiatrist to help you - a therapist, psychologist or social worker who does therapy can be more than enough. I found one who was free by calling the hotline at RAINN.org. Not every place has free therapy available, but there are often low costs options available for survivors.
Meanwhile, if you want sharing and support, I think it's best to stick to the website until you have a longstanding relationship with someone.
I think you should report that "friend" to DS for abuse. However, they will then come back with a different username, so we have to maintain vigilance against this. I wonder if we should automatically tell newbies this: "welcome to DS and beware of those who ask for outside contact info".
If you need and want support you can post here as often as you want.

I won't act like I didn't think about print screening the email along with the username of the person but then thought about the help that person came to this site for as well. I recently read about some getting aroused thinking about their own abuse and got sick thinking that someone could do that hearing about what took away MY innocence. It's one thing to be aroused by your own but I think it's cruel to make someone rehash their own in graphic details just to get off. I don't ever want to be a hindrance of anyone seeking the help they deserve nor want to judge how they deal with their own sexual abuse. I just don't MY childhood torments used. I also wasn't completely certain if I was about to be abused in another way or if it was normal to give up such detailed information. I still have a long way to go in the trust area it seems.
I greatly appreciate the advice and have looked into the website you gave. I will soon be meeting with a local support group so hoping that will offer some relief. Thank you again for the advice and support.
