Ok, this has happened literally three hours ago. A little background, I reported my stepfather to the police. They made contact with him two weeks ago Thursday. Since then my mother has made every excuse not to see me, but not saying that she is upset about the report. Flash forward to three hours ago.
My mother knocked on my door. I opened it, and did the customary "Hey there, you ok?" To which she flung her arms around me and sobbed saying no she wasn't ok. I asked her what was wrong and she snapped back "What do you think?" She went on to tell me, completely dry eyed, that she was petrified. That she had known that I had these "feelings" but never dreamed I would do anything like this. She told me that she hadn't been eating or sleeping and that she was having nightmares. She told me that she knew I thought this was all about me, but it was about her now as well. She then went on to say that she had felt like this when I had been accused of being an escort and prostitute by the school we both worked at (completely untrue by the way, it was not proven and they had to drop the allegations) and she told me that my headmistress had called her in and told her that she could have gone to the police about me, but didn't for my mum's sake. It felt something like a threat, or a suggestion that I should have extended her the same courtesy. I don't know. It felt like she was trying to guilt trip me into withdrawing what had been said. I told her I couldn't discuss anything about the ongoing investigation and the reason I hadn't told her what I had done was because I couldn't. I chnaged the subject, telling her that I had been to hospital Sunday night (I am twenty eight weeks pregnant and have been having increased braxton hicks contractions and yesterday I had a little bleed) and she was so so cold. She didn't seem to care. She didn't ask what had happened, she didn't ask if the baby was alright, nothing. It felt rehearsed. It felt strange and out of character completely. Normally if she is coming round, she will text me to let me know, and if she is coming round after work, she normally gets here for half four, five o'clock. Today it was seven pm, which she knows is my daughter's bedtime.
There is something else that put me more than a little on edge about the whole thing...
When my mother arrived, I noticed a car parked outside, but it wasn't parked properly, it was diagonal as if it had pulled in quickly, briefly. It was the right make and colour of my mother's car, and in it was a woman with long white blonde hair, and a man with dark hair in a navy tshirt. Visibility was good, and they were about fifty metres away, and it looked a lot like my sister and stepfather. My sister has distinctive hair and he wears a navy tshirt for work. Before now, he had NEVER been to my new house and didn't know where I live. I am about 70% certain it was them. My mother usually parks in view of the house, but when she left she walked away out of sight of the house. The road was empty in front of my house, so she would have parked there normally. Also, when she left, she didn't drive the shortest route, across the front of my house to get to the main road, meaning she deliberately went all the way around the back to avoid being seen by me. My husband works nights and I am home alone A LOT. My husband has now told me to keep the doors and windows locked at all times and not to answer the door if I'm not expecting anyone. I have informed the police about the visit and my support worker.
Now I guess I know where I stand huh?

Upon his departure, he remarked, "I am in many people’s pockets; no one will believe you." Have you ever grappled with the silence that follows sexual assault, where the perceived impossibility of being believed necessitates self-censorship?

Big giant gentle hugs
The whole thing just felt so rehearsed...it really put me on edge.
You were so hurt and disappointed by your mother's withdrawal that I had some hope that you knew that woman had a heart. I was hoping for your sake that she would prove to be more of a true mother than my own, for example. Maybe not.
You did the right thing reporting it to the police and your support worker.
Is it possible to call your mother and ask her about all the strange elements of that visit? Is there even any point in doing so? Only you might be able to guess whether she has a heart in there that might be reached. I know my mother has no mercy for me whatsoever - I hope yours is better than that. Either way, as gigglemon says, take extra good care of yourself, and come here for the support you need and deserve.
Warm gentle hugs
And I fully agree with donna and pray u never have to use that saved up money in the cops bank.
Hmmm that was much funnier in my head *shrugs*
