It's important to have goals, both long and short term. You also have to look at yourself and how you feel like you managed to quit other things in your life. Was it cold turkey, weaning, mix of both? As important as it is to quit if you have a problem, it's also important to reflect and find what makes you turn to porn in the first place.
That's how I have been going on a month without masturbating and porn. I pretty much hit a rock bottom of sorts, I'm stopping cold turkey, I have the love and support of my wife, this group, therapy, counseling, spirituality, meetings. All of it is in an effort to understand why I would turn to porn, how it has affected my development with relationships and sex.
Focus on yourself as a person, we are all capable of doing great and wonderful things in life. I feel like in order to do that we also need to be able to understand ourselves and find what works for us individually to get there.
You have my support as well as the support of everyone here, we are all here for you.
When I first tried to quit, a day or two seemed to be my limit. After getting more determined, and more upset with myself, I could only make it two weeks before failing, and it was a frustrating cycle. Something that helped me was learning not to be mad at myself about it, about failing. The group and its members helped me see and remember that every moment not using is a victory. That combined with the support to learn myself, and eventually, learn to accept myself really helped tremendously. For me, learning to be kind and respectful to myself was very important. Learning more about myself was inevitably a powerful tool.
I let people I trusted in on my problem, and having them there to route for me was also very helpful. They keep track of the days and weeks like I do, and it's helps me a great deal. But find things that work for you, it might take a while to find your most beneficial footing against this problem, but give yourself that time and grace to get there.
