Sexual addiction, also sometimes called sexual compulsion, is a form of psychological addiction to sexual intercourse and other sexual behavior.
Sexual addiction, also sometimes called sexual compulsion, is a form of psychological addiction to sexual intercourse and other sexual behavior.
Also, technically, you did not abstain from watching porn. This is a lie you tell yourself and others.
This distorted thinking, minimizing and manipulation is part of the crazy-making behavior of this or any addiction.

But any kind of help is worth it, may it be via an online support group ( i know from experience) OR , as you said ( A 12 step program).
But just doing this without telling/sharing with anyone is by no means , a rational / logical way of treatement.
I have actually seen several videos of Recovery Experts , suggesting to do this with the help of making an ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER,whose job will be to call you up and in that way keep a check on you regarding your progress and etc.
Do you know about , Fapstrounauts (A term use for people who no longer FAP/MASURBATE to porn or any other stimulating material) on reddit.com ? If not then, these are guys/teens/etc who have started a movement of not watching porn or even masturbating & they have been doing that now for years. They also , share their stories online and take help, advices & suggestions from other Fapstrounauts online. The website has now 146,547 Fapstrounauts members/
So,you see. There is potential in each and every approach. The main thing is the , initiative.
So,any kind of approach / idea / method is worth it (Even if not the BEST)...
Face to face sponsorship works as long as you are committed to it, but that's your decision to make.
I have noticed some craving today myself. It turns out that , the more i use my computer , there is a very high chance of my mind suddenly getting triggered...
I have to agree with you on this ...You are rite...
I was just looking at this old movie , just skimming and guess what , my mind started to look for spicy stuff......
I am living in a country where a 12 sep program or similar is never a norm , nor is avaliable...
There are no support groups or anything either her... And discussing such things as Pornography are a Taboo...
So,my only chances are socialising or (Risky) Internet reccovery help or chat ....
When I was in my recovery and I had to go online to report as it were, I simply used the library's computer to do so. Also, for everything else, I used the work computer thus limiting my time for idle behavior.
As for my computer at home, I installed K-9 Web Coat and had a friend set up the parameters and only limited my time there to no more than an hour a day, to check my email, make payments or check my bank statements. That was it!!!!
As I had my own schedule to follow to the letter, I had alloted that time and no more. If I could not finish what I was doing within that time, too bad. I would have to do it the next day.

WOW...That is some record ,,,,
Just for the sake of fun...Would y'all wanna hear my covers...
it will motivate me to sing more...
Actually, I do not consider it a record as I consider it my sober life. in other words, my life no longer revolves around porn, so there is no record for me to reach.
This was only possible because I committed myself to get better, to live a healthy life and to reboot my brain back to factory settings, as it were, that is back to where my brain knew no porn.
Was itr easy? Not in the least but it was not impossible. It took a lot of patience, a lot of determination, a lot of persistence, a lot of flexibility and a hell of a lot of faith to accomplish it.
Frankly, it took me 2 years to get rid of the Intrusive images which happen when the brain plays them well after viewing them, well 6 months but the other year and a half was spent dealing with them sporadically. I knew this was my addictive mind trying to get the fix I was denying it day after day, so I paid it no mind. After a long while it eventually gave up, leaving me to live my life in peace.
It is true that I occasionally get urges but they are very brief and do not even make a sound ands since my mind is no longer on hypersexual drive or sexualizing everything, my sex drive is where it should be and I realized during my recovery that sex is not a need but an option. So I decided I am happier without it.
In a nutshell, this what a sober life looks like. Not all recoveries are alike either in process or results yet they share a common goal: A life totally devoid of porn addiction.
I have written dozens of times about how I did it. If you like you can find those posts in the search option.

Like for instance , i am watching a gym workout video and all of a sudden , you see on the right side , girls in WHATEVER outfit , doing stuff or etc , and i am like..What the HELL is this crap...
So,thank God , i am still kicking this and i don't know , Psychologically , reading your comments perhaps are also giving me hope that there are people like you , who no longer need PORN or ANY STIMULATING stuff to get off...Sometimes , i would be doing it just to numb my depression..
AND yes , you are rite..ANYTHING that i saw , it is stored somewhere in my BRAIN HARDWARE and i can literally PLAY it ..And , sometimes , i can recall it VIVDLY..Enough said ,i don't wanna ruin your Sober persuit by speaking too much about this :)
As strange it is , sometimes , seeing or watching hazards of porno , triggers the urge (WEIRD RITE) but it is a reality...
So,anyways , i had a great pumo today at the gym and now i am again in that zone of watching youtube vids but i thought of checking this website...Thank God.i am gonna abstain now :)
Hope you are having a good day ....
If you know that using your computer may lead you astray, why would you persist on continuing to do so?
I personally stopped using my own PC for 2 years because even with the K9 Web coat filter and password proteccion I knew I needed more restriccions. So I sent my report from the library's borrowed PC and used the PC at work. When i was finally comfortable using it ay home, I still kept the filter and limited my time.
I also stopped going to questionable places like the red light district, gave away my entire porn collection, erased all my bookmarks, deleted all my saved movies and cancelled my subscriptions to premium channels.
Almost 5 years later, if i happen to stumble upon a sex scene i automatically either walk out to get some water because my brain has already been programmed to not want to see those kinds of things.
My brain no longer considers these scenes important or worth a aecond look. As I said, this new adjustment took 2 years and it was day in and day out totally devoid of any sexual content or behavior on my part. This is crucial if you are truly serious about getting better.
A complete moratorium on sex all around is crucial. After the six months, frankly I no longer missed it. I found it refreshing getting up without a sex drive bothering me anymore. Or going through the day and not having a sexual thought is priceless.

I'm always happy to hear the thoughts of other and don't judge in a wanton way. I may judge, but I don't like to laugh at you. I was a pornography addict since age 11 or so, and I've noticed its downsides. I think that our pornographic addiction causes us to destroy our own ego, we are actually attracted to other men and become promiscuous. So, if you have a girlfriend then pornography may make you a swinger or something. Why would you want to watch another man fornicate with a woman you're emotionally attached to.
Thanks for reading my reply. Today I saw pornography on a social networking website, which was hard-core pornography. I believe that as soon as I looked at the first photograph of pornography I was an addict. A person cannot become asexual, hence looking at pornography is super addictive, and it destroys our mentality. Even after just looking at one image of pornography on accident today I can tell I'm already addicted again.
I haven't sought out any pornography yet, and I believe that using the website may be beneficial to my recovery.
Life as a pornography addict is life as a loser and I've yet to accomplish my dreams in life.
I agree with you.I ought to stay away from my computer usage as much as i can.And one more thing is , staying around people (like say my family) or outside home.
But here is the problem. My use of computer is my only source of enjoyment..I have no friends.I have many acquaintances. But my free time is mostly spent alone...At home or sometimes outside , if i decided to go for stroll or best , sometihng to eat...And yes , Pray..I pray 4 times a day (Out of 5,i am a Muslim)
I inevitably come near my pc and use it..Play some games..watch movies , or watch some documentaries , use some social nertwork websites...
And just so you know , i relapsed on my 5th day..The 6th day was started , as it was like 1:00 A in the morning.I stayed awake , and went to my job with only an hour sleep. That's how lethal this is , when it hits me.It took away my sleep, my time and screws up my job too sometimes. So,that makes my last abstinence progress to a "5" Day Record.. It was like , "3" days , before (The earlier record) , so yay , 2 days progress ...lol It is essential that i at least do a reboot , i.e 90 days sober , As expertes say that our brain reboots in about 90 days time...
Couldn't agree more with you.Being a Pornography addict is like , being a looser. You loose your confidence , you loose your self , you loose your physical and mental power , you loose your spirituality, you loose your self discipline.
For people , who alreay have anxiety (like myself ,,,I am shy , alone and depressed sometimes) Pornography seems like the best temporary escape & when you are done , you realize that , you are right where you started ...And it feels more sad and pathetic..
When i recovered I too lived alone. I am a loner by nature, i noticed something interesting which was that as I was progressing in my recovery and getting better, my depression began to lift slowly.
Addiction does play a large role in depression and it will make it worse because of the subsequent negative feelings that ocurr after indulging.
I do not want to seem radical but I would aim for a moratorium on sexual behavior for as long as it takes, as I did to ensure that you are successful in your recovery.
When I decided to recover for the last time, I did whatever was necessary to get better, tweaked my recovery action plan a dozen times every time I saw that something was not working.
Best of all, never did I think that I would be without sex for a long time but I chose to look at whatever I neded to do to get better. In other words, every day that I did not indulge it was a day closer to freedom.
Also every day that I did not indulge, I put a dollar away and by the time it was all over, I was able to purchase myself an HDTV. So, as you can see it is possible to recover. You just have to decide and persist.
When I needed an extra pick me up I would pick an inspirational book from my library and read the message I needed to hear. Being alone should not be a barrier to recovery.
Frankly, it is not enough to do simply a reboot, what needs to happen here is a total life overhaul where no traces of an addiction exist because otherwise, you'll be right back where you started.
