Sensory Integration Disorder is a neurological disorder causing difficulties with processing information from the five classic senses, the sense of movement, and/or the positional sense. Sensory integration disorders vary between individuals in their characteristics and intensity.

My son has been using his theraband in class since Friday. The teacher called me today to tell me she thinks it is more of a hinderance than a help, causing him to continally move, etc. (It is supposed to allow him certain movement, which he needs without the urge to keep getting up. ) I think it will work, once he gets clear on how it is supposed to be used.
What worries me is she is suggesting a separate day class and the only one he would fall in is severely emotionally disturbed, which he is not. What I want is an aide to be assigned to him during classtime to redirect his attention and his movements, when necessary. I understand his teacher cannot do this as she has an entire classroom to teach, but I just dont want to puti him in a specail day class, not yet. I think there are more options avail that maybe I just am not aware of.
Any suggestions?

Also, fidgets!!! Very good to help. Just, want to make sure its not distracting to him. Also, a sensory diet like brushing and swinging beforehand...these things work for autism, si, and adhd/add.... hope it helps!
