Hi, I just need some input. I may be 53, but when it comes to dating and relationships, I'm not very knowing.
I've been dating people over the last year, mostly unsuccessful. But I persist. anyway, there's this fella I met on a dating website. We started talking on the phone just over a week ago. He seems too serious, too quick. He's talking like we are a couple, and would I be willing to move out his way? would i live with him? Apparently I'm a one in a million (not).
We went out for a drive today. He said he considers we are now in a relationship. When I talked of planning to be busy next year, with work and study - he got a bit touchy, and asked how much time i would have for him. I was saying maybe one day a week, and he said in all seriousness 'then I would wait for you.'
I just feel this is all too much like an instant relationship. 2 weeks ago, we didn't know each other at ALL.
I'm not sure what I''m looking for - a friend and lover, not too serious, not too casual - and this is seeming like I've signed my life away. He even asked if I was against marriage.
I just don't think the instant relationship thing is realistic, and I am feeling crowded.
I'm going to have to have a chat with him, but i"m not looking forward to it.
I"m so used to being independent - while part of me longs for a companion, I think I am best alone.

The thing to keep in mind is that "Love" is a decision that a person makes. It is not some magical thing that happens.
Your suitor has made the decision to love you.
If you can not or will not make the decision to love him, then you should tell him that. It's that simple.
If you can make the decision to love him then and only they do you have to make a decision on what you want the loving relationship to look like.
If he genuinely cared about YOU he would want you to be happy not trying to pen you in or change your mind about things.
