Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.
If worse got to worse I think you would have a case to take them to tribunal. The problem is that low self esteem lies at the heart of all our conditions so you may not want to go through this process if they start trying to get you to resign you could at least threaten this, it should give them pause for thought.
My work found out about me. How? Because I had fresh cuts all over my forearms and I rolled up my sleeves to do the dishes. My manager is glad that I am open to talking to her about it and always tells me that if I need to talk about anything, that she is there for me.
Basically, if you're still on probation at work (first 3 months of working there) then yes, they can fire you for "no reason." But if you do your job, love doing it, and are a hard worker then they cannot fire you over this. If they try to, bring it up with your manager, district manager, or someone higher up in the company. Worse comes to worse, bring it to the labour board. They have no right to do anything because 1) It does not get in the way of you doing your job, 2) It's not like you're self-harming at work, and 3) It does NOT define you.
That chick was beyond rude. Like, whoa, I'm amazed a person could be so stupid and careless. So it goes... But one thing's for sure, if she goes blabbering, she's going to look worse than the biggest cutter's arm ever. She'll be a gossip and a bitch to top it off.
Keep lovin' your job. Maybe confront her, let her know that was an inproper thing to do and say, and she should watch it, 'cause tho you're strong and awesome, the next person she could be that fucking obnoxious with could easily go over the edge, and it'd be on her concious for the rest of her life. Smiling the whole time. Turn on your heal and walk away. You'll feel great, at least I would ha ha
Have a good one!
i had people find out about my si when i worked at a mental hospital. but one of the girls i worked with also told my supervisor that i was telling the patients about it, which i wasnt. that would have been really stupid. they just transferred me to a different unit there. for a fresh start.
but then someone on that unit saw my cuts (fresh ones) and told my head nurse there too. they called me in for a conference just to see if i was ok, but again, they couldnt fire me because of it because i wasnt endangering the patients or shirking my responsibilities. so you should be fine.
