Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.
Hugs.
The best thing I can think of is to tell you to be kind to yourself - i dont just mean by not cutting but in general. If you cut, then its happened..don't blame yourself. The self harm happened because you didnt have the resources to not do it this time but you might have them next time. Be proud of how hard you are working to avoid hurting yourself. You're making huge steps forward and a relapse doesnt remove that progress.
It isnt messed up to recognise how we would have behaved in the past.
If your usual distraction methods aren't working you could try going for a walk, writing down the reasons why you dont want to cut.. Smelling a strong smell like cedar oil (i think it is) can be calming and it can keep you grounded.
if all else fails bin/burn anything that you would use to harm yourself. Get someone to come in and take it away.
