Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.

It sounds like your mother does not understand the situation, and for that I am deeply sorry for you. You are doing the best you can and you should be proud of that. For the record though, scars aren't ugly; they show that you've struggled, and that's okay.
I still have moments when I am overwhelmed by emotional traumas beyond my control, that I think about cutting again. My advice to you is to find an outlet for all that emotional turmoil, I suggest something like a punching bag, or running. Use your imagination to find an outlet for yourself. I know its not easy, just realize that things do get better. Your mom has never been in the same situation apparently, however I am sure she loves and cares about you. Thinking of you.
