Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.
2. i don't flaunt my scars, if they ask to see them i shy away from that because my scars are mine, i don't want to share them..i also dont hide them, i wear shorts and short sleeves. i'm not ashamed.
3. no, i dont hide them
2) Yeah, i showed my therapist, mom and my ex my scars. I was pretty close with my ex, and every time i cut he would know. I actually stopped for most of out relationship because of him.
3) Depends how long we've been dating. My ex was my longest and first serious relationship, 8 months. I didnt hide anything from him. My second longest relationship was 3 weeks. He knew. My other boyfriends never did.
2. I have shown my scars to one person; we were both very depressed and found comfort in each other's scars.
3. I hid my scars from only one boyfriend. He eventually found out and it really wasn't too big a deal. I don't let it be known that I have scars but they're fairly visible and so others who see them eventually find out.
I hardly ever show someone my scars, unless they're VERY close to me...this is very private for me, actually seeing the scars. Except for the ones that are already highly visible. Other people have no business seeing any that they haven't already, and I don't have to answer their questions. Making up stories is fun - and if they don't believe them, then I don't care.
In the relationships I've been in, each guy knew about my SI before we got together - I've made it a rule to only date guys who know everything about me already, so they know what they're getting into. One is still my best friend: I don't tell him every time I cut, but I do tell him sometimes, and if he asks where/how deep then I feel comfortable telling him that. I would never hide it from my other half...it seems too much like deception to me, and also if I was in a rough spot I wouldn't have him for support.
(((hugs)))
2. Have you ever shown them your cuts/scars? a few of my friends and family noticed the cuts when i would take my braslets off or my sleeves would go up. the way i cut tho i dont have many lasting scars, im not sure how considering howmuch i cut but im thankful
3. If you're in a relationship - do you hide your self harm/scars from your other half? I dont really have many scars and the ones I have look like accidents but I do tell them when it comes to a point where i feel like they should know because sometimes i still want to but have to force myself not to
My family knows. I cut a vein and had to tell my mom.
yes, i have only shown my mom my scares once out of anger... one of the worst things ive ever done.
Ive never been in a real relationship but if i was id definitly hide them.
2) The only people I willingly show my cuts and scars are my boyfriend and the friend I mentioned. I made a pact with my boyfriend that we would tell one another when we hurt ourselves. He's really sweet and understanding and doesn't get mad at me when I mess up. He just hugs me and kisses the cuts gently.
