I'm going swimming with my friends at a lake later today. The problem is, I have a pretty deep cut on my arm that still isn't closed and scabbed over yet. I'm worried that it might get infected if I swim in the lake.
If I were to wrap it with some kind of bandage or even plastic wrap, would there still be a big chance of infection?

A long time ago when I got my belly button pierced, they told me not to swim b/c of risk of infection, but they said if I did to put some bactracin on it and clean it well before I went in, and put gauze on it then cover it in plastic and make sure it's water tight secured. I did, and I was fine. Afterward, I cleaned it out realy well with bitracin, and put some ointment on it to prevent infection. Can't say if this will help you or not cuaes I'm not a dr. but it worked for me. Good luck hon!!!

if you can manage to make it water-tight, there shouldn't be much of a chance for infection. just to be on the safe side, i'd wash it really well both before and after you swim, with soap and water, and then later tonight when you get home, use some bacitracin on it. it'll help the healing process. Neosporin contains bacitracin and a few other antibiotics that will help in case something did get in your wound

i use baking soda on everyone of mine, it burns like hell, but i've never gotten an infection

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
