Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.

Find a Statement or Mantra that you like, that applies to the positive parts of you and start your day with it, every day. Write it out and tape it to your mirror so you see it in the morning. Like the above person said, Sticky Notes work well, You can write positive thoughts and put them in your locker at school. So you can read them to yourself in between class. Learned Behaviors are just that...you have to work at learning them, for some reason the brain picks up on negativity easier than positivity, most likely because in most people's worlds there is more negativity to go round.
When you write in your Journal make sure you include all the positive things that happened in your day, even if it's just that you had what you enjoyed for lunch....or your reading your favorite book. You have to get in the habit of being positive about yourself, you have to work at it, and it can replace the negative.
Life is not perfect, nor easy by any means, but generally there are many things in the day to be positive about, the more you reinforce recognizing them, the easier it becomes to be positive about yourself without having to try so hard.
Hang in there, you can do this, you have the strength.
Take care,
Kat
