Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.
You can replace it with anything you like but the underlying issues will still be there. It can be done, i've done it.

Thanks for your responses. Just wanted to add more info here for clarification. I have been in therapy for a few months now and no longer live at home because I am in college.
I tried to quit cold turkey before but had a rough time, and now it is even harder. I don't understand how to distract myself so much that I don't want to SI. Even when I am in class sometimes it is all I can think about.
And I get what you are saying about underlying issues. But right now my therapist wants to build up my coping mechanisms before we go into all the painful things. So that is why I am trying to find alternatives.
i don't know one other thing that solves so many problems.
more energy. better shape. improved mood. it's free too.
running helped distract me, im bk home now with my parents for a while so walking the dog helps.
hope u find the right distraction for u, we have to find our own sometimes. but dnt give in recovery is a long journey.
I'm still saying cold turkey is the best way, but I totally understand how that is not a good idea when you're stressed. {Good luck}
I know it's hard and frustrating but you will get there. Have you told her about how you feel?
