i've been struggling with cutting for a long time now. No one knows i do it though. my counselor at school knows, and she thinks that i am depressed. some of my friends know, but we don't talk about it. for some reason im afraid to get the help i need. i go to an all girls catholic high school with extremely high academic standards. I'm loosing it. i cant take the pressure anymore. i constantly have coaches asking me if I'm OK too... my eating patterns are scattered, and i've been having sleeping trouble too.. my biggest fear is my mom finding out.
if i can get over my mom finding out, i would have no problem getting help. i've started burning myself badly as well... is there like a way i can get help without my parents knowing? (im 16) ...i can feel myself hitting rock bottom. it's just getting worse and worse. help me please

Yowzers, very sorry you're going through this; high school is a stressful time for many. I think you might have to bite the bullet, so to speak and talk with your mom about this; I don't think there's a way you can see a professional without your folks finding out when you're under 18 yrs of age. You could call a help hotline where you can be anonymous and get some help that way; perhaps they can even recommend a way for you to be able to speak with your mom about this problem before it worsens.

i am so sorry that you're feeling so bad to do this......i know that it'll be hard ot tel lyour paretns adn that you don't want them to know, but i know from expereince that the sooner you tell them the faster they can help.....they may have different reactions, but if you've told your cousnelor and she think you may be depressed, well that';s very serious.....if depression goes untreated it can turn into Major Depressive Disorder/MDD and really be dangerous.......you seem willing to get help and that's GREAT, but i think you need ot tell your mom....i know you don't want to, but i think it's for the best.....if you ever need to talk, i'm here for you

not sure where your from, but where i'm from PA in the USA, you have to be 18 for the parents not to know. when i went to counseling my mom HAD to be there with me for the intake interview, but she didnt have to come to the sessions with me and stuff.

i hope you get help! good luck with schooling and everything.
