Hiding the scar

I know this subject has been discussed before but I need some advice... Years ago I decided to cut in one place that can't be seen, the "cutting place". It's been a couple weeks since cutting so there's no open wounds but the scar is HUGE!! Anyway, my problem is I'm going to the beach next week, the scar will show and it's horrible. I don't think that make-up is going to work this time because of the salt water and or clorine in the pool. Besides, re-applying make-up, secretly, doesn't seem like an option at all. I thought about bandages but, the scare is preety big and that number of bandages would draw attention to it as well. I don't think there's a solution to this. Thanks for any help.

I'm really sorry, but I don't know of any solutions for you. There's this special make-up stuff that you can get from some doctors or department stores called Dermablend. It didn't work well for me because I was trying to cover lots of scars (both forearms, pretty much all of the skin). Also, it's not very effective if the scars are still raised or very discolored (newer scars). Time's the only thing that will make them less noticeable.

i myself am trying to use scar patches
but these take months to work
i don't know of any quick fixes
are you worried cause who ever you are going with doesn't know that your cutting
or are you just embarresed

My husband is aware of cutting and scar, my kids do not and I'd prefer not to discuss this with them. The scar is bad enough that it is very noticable. I'll probably wear long shorts when not in the water... and make-up when need be.

I read about scar patches and the dermatologist say they don't work.
I had to buy a new bathing suit to hid some of my scars. The rest of them just hang out there. It's summer and I'm going through the same problem with some newer scars. I say, f 'em! If they ask you about them, lie like "it's a surgery and I don't feel like talking about it." or tell them it's was a dumb, bizarre accident and you don't want to talk about it. Or, ask them, "Why do you want to know?" That stops people sometimes. You'll find a solution, wear a cover up, tshirt, bandana, shoe, sock and lie or whatever it takes but move them off the subject and have a good time! Peace and love to you!

I don't have any answers to getting rid of the scar and I'm lucky coz it's winter here, but when its summer I wear a sarong or wear board shorts... whenever I go to the beach (won't prance around in a bikini at my size!!!).

Can ya get waterproof foundation or conceler???

I feel bad for you. I'm sure many of us can relate to you issue with conceiling your scar for your reasons. But I am not sure what advice you would benefit from. It's not that I can't think of anything. It's more I don't really have an idea of the size or location of the scar(scars) in particular you desire to cover/hide. I would suggest trying maybe theatrical makeup? It's much thicker a consistacny than regular make up you obtain at a drugstore/department store and has greter longevity. Maybe you could also skillfully apply self tanner/bronzer to the are to help visibly reduce it's appearence. I'm sorry if my suggestions are a bit vague. hopefulyl you can find a solution that works for you.
