So recently I've taken to cutting words into my skin, words that people tell me everyday things like "freak, die, dyke, and creep" how do I stop I want to stop I don't want these words as a reminder but I can't stop myself what do I do I can't change myself but it feels like that's the only way to make things stop

Do you have soft tip markers? I know this isn't something you want to do, but please find a marker and write FIVE things about you that you love! I'm sure you are caring. Your picture is adorable. What are your skills. Let your past (i.e. marks) heal and re-label yourself! YOU are the one to decide who you are. I would love to hear back of which words you would use! Because those things, those are more important that what ANY JERKS say. You can do this!

Also, have you worked with a counselor? I really didn't want to at first but mine has helped a lot. She has taught me that I need to rewire my brain to think of the positive things about me and maybe one could help you address these people are telling you awful things.

KTs thank you for the ideas I will try them and yes I have worked with a counselor before but it just didn't help much

markers. if you want to really make yourself feel really bad use the markers and write the oppisite of those words. seeing words like loved live human unique will hurt more than the other words. thats if a jolt or pain is what your looking for. if physical pain is what you need hold ice to your skin and don't let go

^^ that is an idea that I could use but sadly it won't get rid of the scars I have already but thank you anyway
dash
your post is about stopping yourself from doing these things and not about scars. are you someone who will find errors in every suggestion or are you willing to try?
ceridwan
I'm willing to try I just hate looking at what I'm doing to myself though I guess I should stop nitpicking suggestions from people who only want to help
dash
yup. step 1 done and time to move on. whats your step 2?
ceridwan
I don't know accept what I am and stop listening to people who insult me?
dash
thats a process and not something you can do instantly so be patient with yourself. its a good step.
