I've been a cutter on and off for 31 years and BiPolar for 28, I have a lifetime of experience with these things, and I know what I'm talking about. I'm also a Clinical Psychologist as well as a Patient.
Now about the cutting, I was a cutter and still think about it when I am stressed. I believe my reason for cutting was my way of releasing a lot of pent up anger and emotions that I could not get rid of any other way. Please talk to someone, not just your best friend. Friends always care but quite often do not understand what you are going through. Talk to your parents or teacher about talking to a therapist. Above all don't let it get you down and remember that there are a lot more of us then you would ever imagine. Will be thinking about you.
Things get very overwhelming in high school, and sometimes it seems like you are all alone when you just need to take a couple of steps back and look at things from a different view. Realize that things get better with time and you just have to ride it out. Do your best and go from there. In the mean time try to occupy your time in a positive manner, exercise of any type, projects, reading, and any hobbies that you have or would like to pursue. I am not saying that this has not been traumatic for you, I understand your feelings. Remember there is always a better day coming! Thinking of you.
i’ve been trying to do that stuff, but it seems like it’s just getting worse and it’s consumed my life. thank you though❤️
Please be strong and stubborn and keep getting back up.
I've been through a lot in my life, living with an abusive man for 20 yrs.,
and most recently losing my leg. I am no stronger than you or anyone else, I just am too stubborn to give up! Things do come along that make it all worth it,
even if its just a fun night with friends. I will keep an eye out for your posts.
Mental illness does not discriminate amongst age, and regardless of diverse opinion, they should've kept their mouth shut. Now is not the time for that type of behavior.
If this friend knows and is supportive, maybe you should tell them of this situation of yours. They could help you in the long run, right? However that's up to you. You could always find a purpose for yourself. Something to strive towards, such as a goal for your future, or for recovery as a whole. I wish you the best of luck.
