Scoliosis Support Group
Scoliosis affects all ages. Unlike the naturally occurring curves in the spine, scoliosis causes the spine to curve abnormally to the left or right.

hi im new here and really need to talk with people who understand what im talking about.in fact i dont know much about my condition so if 1 and 1 make 2 please let me know.iv had scoliosis since 13 and have had traction and things to stuff in my shoe.i have been an outdoor worker for many years doing hard an heavy labour.i loved it and had the attitude of feel the pain and keep going no matter what.i noticed that after 3-4 hours of intense pain (in which i used to yell at myself to keep going) a numbness would take over and i would feel invinsable.then came a brace and anti inflam painkillers = great.well i wore the brace out but continued on the painkillers.2 years ago i had a bowel bleed and was told i cant take my painkillers anymore.i was bumming hard so took them secretly.i told the doc and he has put me on tramadol.it took 2 days to get used to them and notice to rid myself of the pain i had to go strait to maximum dose.in the last year i have been really bad and the speed in which i am falling to pieces has moved up about 7 notches.my lung is squashed and back and neck can pop in and out by sometimes slight movement of my head.at night when sleeping i go around and around trying to get comfy but just feel like im so twisted.like the twist is pushing through and my muscles cant follow.the tention is starting to show in my limbs as they are weakening.a specialist told me to learn to live with it but man he has got 2 be joking right!?is all this normal and whats the best avenue for me to go down from here?

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
big respect to you for pushing through the pain! it might be worth noting too that i've been doing specific core-strengthening exercises, too, during this time. those exercises have helped a lot with my ability to do regular labor. i didn't realize how weak my core was even though i *could* lift 100 lbs into a truck, etc... but my curve is largely a lumbar curve. sounds like maybe yours is upper back?
There is also this book that has become my bible: http://www.amazon.com/Trigger-Point-Therapy-Workbook-Self-Treatment/dp/1572243759/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1297124022&sr=1-1
I don't know if it would be helpful in your case, though.
