Scoliosis affects all ages. Unlike the naturally occurring curves in the spine, scoliosis causes the spine to curve abnormally to the left or right.
Hi, I am new to this group. My daughter who is 11 has scoliosis. She had surgery 4 years ago. With growing, now has a curve above the vertabrae which is pinned. We have been told she will be getting a brace. Pain, through this development is something new for my child. She is a dancer, and it is starting to affect what she is able to do. Looking for support from other parents and any girls who can help / chat with my child, thru this page as she doesn't have her own email account yet.

Hello, I hope I can still help... I have severe scoliosis and I also have spondylolisthesis. So, I am not a stranger to pain. I am also a dancer and because of back pain, I was not able to perform and dance for months. I find that what helped me was that my mother and friends were there for me. I was able to talk to the school and take the elevator. I got help with my chores, and eventually, I received a back brace that helped me with the pain. I hope that helped. I’m 11 yrs old and received a back brace about 5 months ago. In the middle of my bracing I got knee surgery. It was really hard but I’ve learned some tips and tricks for bracing. It’s so hard to find someone that’s going through the same thing as you, and I’m looking for someone to talk to as well. I would absolutely love to talk to your daughter.

Hi. I had scoliosis surgery 14 months ago. I have 2 rods and many many screws that go from T5 to my pelvis. It was a 10 hour surgery. This has been an incredibly hard year. And I still have lots of symptoms like spasms and nerve pain. Can anyone relate to this? I thought that by now I would have improved more than I have. Thanks.

Hi, my name is lily, I'm 14 and I'm having surgery on December 16 I have had scoliosis for a couple of years now but was medically diagnosed about a year ago. I think it is so amazing how your daughter is able to go through so much scoliosis had really made doing things kinda hard and some of my friends don't understand completely.
