Scoliosis affects all ages. Unlike the naturally occurring curves in the spine, scoliosis causes the spine to curve abnormally to the left or right.
Does anyone else get chest pain on either their right or left side? I get it on occasion and it's usually felt when I move or take a deep breathe. Also I notice some shortness of breath. I'm just curious as to if this is truly caused by scoliosis or not. I used to go to a cardiologist when I was younger to see if it was coming from the heart but back then they said that my heart was fine. I'm hoping that it's still fine now, but I'm also concerned that it might be the scoliosis having a negative effect on my lungs.

What kind of curve do you have? Is it only on one side or a double curve? It has been many years before my corrective surgery. I don't remember having chest pain (had a double curve), I just remember having weird aches. It's all going to depend on the degree of curvature you have and what side. Still, It would take many years to be from the scoliosis. Hugs.

I believe it's called an S curve, the top curves one way and the bottom the other way.

yeah, so basically a double curve like I had. I got two inches taller in one day when I had the corrective surgery. It is possible that you could have chest pain related to you ribs moving eventually. How long have you had it? What treatments have you had?

I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was a kid, so it's been close to 15 years depending on how much longer I had it since it was found. I've been to chiropractors, physical therapy, acupuncture, and yoga.
