Sciatica Support Group
Sciatica is a term meaning pain that originates from compression of the sciatic nerve, the longest and largest nerve in the body. If the sciatic nerve is pinched or compressed (perhaps by a bulging disc in the low back) a patient may experience leg pain--the classic symptom of sciatica.
my gf is having probs with SI joint at the moment also. and it didn't show up on MRI. but is def that spot. not working properly?
she also had the injection. which can help them work out what to do next.
bursa is the sack of fluid surround the joint ? that means it is inflamed ? do you have a sports physician you can see ?
I am in Australia
there are lots of different forms of nerve pain. I have something in my other leg. that is not sciatica but I don't know what it is. sometimes I cant lift my leg off the bed. but it is not sciatica.
the other side is sciatic nerve. and shows
it gets complicated with nerves. muscles tendons. all joining together
I cant seem to post the link . .but google spine health
they can inject that joint
the fact you have bursa means you have inflammation
any Osteo arthritis show up ?
remember that some ppl read MRI better than others.
did you hve a ct scan of the areas? prior to MRI
If the MRI is good and was read properly, you are lucky. Disc or vertebra problems as a cause of sciatica are no fun.
My sciatica unfortunately is related to an injury to a vertebra. Almost anything out of wack in the lower back can cause a domino effect and sciatica. Sciatica is caused when anything impinges on the Sciatic nerve, which is the largest nerve in the body. Pinching it, rubbing against it, swelling near it etc etc. If your gait is off, ( as a cause of the hip problem) then muscles and tendons are also trying to adjust and compensate. they end up pulling on the nerve or something.
As a layman, and someone with longstanding issues with my lower back, I tell me friends experiencing soft-tissue sciatica causes to do everything in their power to follow every advice of PT to get their lower back returned to best form, because you don't want to become a chronic sufferer.
I have a friend with a soft-tissue cause too and she overcame it by posture, rest, hot cold, medication, PT and following strict doctor's, PT's orders. Once everything in the lower back is not compensating for everything else, and is back in wack, the nerve can heal -- it gets sore and raw. The injections can be very helpful, sometimes keeping the sciatica from returning, ever, or for years.
But don't take your lower back for granted! Believe me, it is worth taking care of
but the physio therapist is good at helping dx problems
work with a good remedial massage therapist if u know of one
or a myotherapist.
sciatica is sciatica. where the bone is on the sciatic nerve
