Sciatica Support Group
Sciatica is a term meaning pain that originates from compression of the sciatic nerve, the longest and largest nerve in the body. If the sciatic nerve is pinched or compressed (perhaps by a bulging disc in the low back) a patient may experience leg pain--the classic symptom of sciatica.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Here are somethings that work for me. What you are describing is the initial flare up when nothing really helps.
1. I took something called FLEXNOW (ava online)...it is a neatural inflammatory made from Shea Nut fruit (shea butter is also made from it). It took a week for a difference. I recommend taking it 2 months. I have done 1 month and am going to continue.
2. Do a daily soak in the tub with epsolm salt and green alcohol. Sleep with heating pads on the areas that hurt.
3. Stretch daily. If you feel pain, don't push yourself, just do what you can do.
4. DON'T LIMP....it makes it worse. I talk to myself and say, stand up straight, don't limp, your limping, etc. whatever works.
After about a week of all this stuff, your pain meds will work better, but don't stop taking it really easy. Feeling better can fool us into trying to resume normal activities. DON"T DO IT...you will be like me, traveling back to the beginning stages.
Hope this helps

p.s. for the winter, try to keep the leg as warm as possible because the cold area makes it worse.
