oh yes. a hard film to watch, in some ways

remind me again what it is we forget ? thanks ;-)

It's a bizarre flick, wherein the villain becomes the victim & we feel sorry for him (right or wrong). It's a classic of sorts.

But there's more to it than that. It is a scathing indictment of Popular psychology and Government "Corrections" departments that claim to "rehabilitate" criminals. We have found this much later that criminals of sex crimes are rarely cured of their behavior. Their recidivism rate is through the roof. Yet we continue to put them back on the streets to commit more crimes. We do it KNOWING they will do that. Do we get the government we deserve? You tell me.

This has always been one of my favorite movies. It shows the total and utter stupidity of society.
Bullies and power trippers become police. We do get the goverment we deserve. We want someone else to sort it for us. People need to take responsability for their complacency.
Stop beliving the govenment and people in charge have our best intrests in mind. THEY DO NOT.

And it has a good soundtrack.
