My zyprexa seems to be failing me more and more...I feel like I have tried everything else including clozaril and ECT. I am so DONE with meds. I have been SOOO stressed out. Took up smoking cigarettes again which don't help psych meds, I don't know what else to do. It seems that every med that works only works about 3-5 months and then it is like I am taking a sugar pill or something. Any advice?

I too have been on everything and had ECT. The ECT screwed up my memory. I am currently on 800mg Clozaril and 12mg Fanapt. It is the best combo for me so far. I still have voices and what my psychologist says are delusions and paranoia but the meds take the edge off. But I was the same way where a med would work for a while then Kaput! It would be like you said a "sugar pill" .I guess I just have to take what works the best which is what I am on and continue with therapy which helps me separate reality from hallucinations and stuff. I wish I could help more. If Clozaril didn't work then I dont know what will as it is the best. albeit dangerous. I hope you find some way to cope. I really do.

Clozaril helped but I wasn't on it long because I kept fainting. Zyprexa helps but it has been about 5 months and it is failing on me. See my pdoc on 12/2 so it is coming up. I am not sure if I would do ECT again, it did mess up my memory too! Smoking hinders psych meds too, but it is a cycle. My meds and stress start to get to me, then I smoke, then the meds don't work as well, then I smoke even more from depression and stress. Stupid cycle. I see my PCP on Monday and going to ask about how to quit smoking when I am like this. Just frustrating...
